lesson overview
Design a wearable device for an athlete STEM Challenge! Looking for a sports STEM activity? This is the perfect way to engage students interested in sports like football or basketball. The handouts connect engineering and science to various sports.
Activity Overview: Whether football or swimming, athletes work hard to stay in shape and improve their performance. They often push their bodies to the limit, and they need ways to communicate to their coaches if they are in distress.
For this challenge, your engineering company is tasked with designing a wearable device that allows athletes to communicate even during intense exercising.
Students will first learn about circuits, how STEM plays a role in training athletes, and then create their own light-up wearable device.
